Proud Baseball Mama

After several years of sports that merge one into the other as the seasons change, I knew there would come a time my baby would pick one over all the others. It appears that he has done so with a passion that I hope he holds for all his life. The hours spent at the ballfield, untold dollars spent on equipment, uniforms and gatorade and even the politics are worth it when he glows from the inside out after a day on the field. Little League is not just a Spring thing for those who are brave and foolhearty enough to enter the realm of travel ball. This year's regular season was followed by an All-Star team that won District and made it to Sectionals. When we arrived home on a Sunday bummed about not heading to State, he picked himself up, repacked the bat bag and the following night began Summer ball at yet another park. If he isn't playing Summer ball, he's practicing with his travel ball team and if we're home he's pitching into the net or begging someone to throw with him. Who know's where it will lead or when it will no longer be fun and that's when we'll be done. But for now, it's healthy All-American great summer time fun and I've turned into the proverbial "baseball Mom" who can keep a scorebook and crank out a pretty sharp batting stats spreadsheet!
