Hectic days to be enjoyed

The Holiday is upon us and there is so much to do ... as usual I run out of time and energy about the same time. Funny how that works. Having a child with a December birthday certainly adds a little to the mix. Now that they are on early release it seems the days are even more frantic. Why wouldn't you just go to school for a day and 1/2 rather than three 1/2 days in a row? The teachers certainly aren't planning much more than fun activities to complete the days. Yesterday was a prime example .. I'm thrilled my son had fun, but why did he need to go to school in his jammies, bring a pillow and blanket to lay in the floor and watch polar express sipping hot chocolate? It's not like he couldn't learn the same valuable lessons curled up under the tree without the hurry up and rush to the bus at the break of dawn! Today's schedule will be a juggle between two classes - a play and a Holiday breakfast with one and simultaneously building a gingerbread house in another class. Some days it pays to have the oldest one think you so aren't cool and doesn't want you to hit the classroom. Lord only knows what tomorrow will bring. With presents to wrap, cards still not mailed, a tree still beckoning with naked branches (why did I need two trees again this year?)and 5 million other little things to do .... I'm ditching it all and headed out to pour juice and make gingerbread houses with wonderfully beaming little faces. The other stuff will get done when it gets done ..... or it won't. Bet the world won't stop spinning either way.
